Original Dialogue:

9. King Claudius, admitting to himself that his prayers are not heartfelt. (Hamlet)
“My words fly up, my thoughts remain below:
Words without thoughts never to heaven go.”

My Modern Interpretation:

Arriving at Herbert Hotel, I stepped inside the elevator. There was a sketchy feeling in my stomach, I knew something was wrong. I was told that I’ll be moving into the dorms with other students from other schools too, but the old residents from “The Herb” tell a completely different story. The mysterious smell from the 2nd floor, along with suspicious activity happening at the front desk demonstrated a sense of insecurity within the housing complex. I’m too far from home to head back, so I must follow through with my decision.

Well, I finished setting up my place, and now I’m ready to go to bed. It’s not that bad. I get a decent view of the H&M store across the street, that’s pretty cool. The bed is comfortable, and we have a fan in our room, most people here didn't seem to have one. everything considered, it isn't that bad.

I woke up to an orange sky, the smell on the 2nd floor has now reached the entire building, and my body is filled with bites. The curiosity hit me, and I went to the second floor to find the source. I see two firefighters staring into a room, and as they turned around, they began to drag two deceased people out of the room. Wanting to bleach my eyes, I took the elevator upstairs to think about my horrible mistake. I get a call from my brother asking me if I would rather just move in with him to Long Beach, and the conversation went like this:

“Hey Serge, we have an open room available, we’ll charge you half of what you pay over there”

“No worries, everything here is good, I’m getting comfortable honestly”

“Oh okay, glad to here everything is good! stay safe bro”

“My words left my mouth, not at all saying what I really felt. Speaking without being genuine, I realized that I’m lying to myself, and that will always end up biting me back at the end”

(Story exaggerated for effect lol)
