Poem writing process

In my humble opinion, poetry is a very uncertain writing genre. When starting a poem, I usually have a topic and experiences to write about, but I never know where I am going to end up. I start writing, and I begin to realize that there is a more creative way of saying the thing I want to say, so I start to take that creative path. I begin finding a sense of direction, and everything is great! however, there comes a time where I have said everything I wanted to, and it is finally time to close out the poem. There is a purpose I want my last few lines of a poem to have, which is a final message that embodies what the entire poem is about. This is the hardest step in my creative process to poetry, and really in any creative form. Ending an essay, a song, or even a conversation is my weakness. I am not quite sure how to end a poem perfectly yet, but I can start by being more honest with myself and by trying not to make it so cookie-cutter. If I can become better at ending my poems, that will hopefully elevate my writing to the next level and create a more cohesive story.
